Charming Cambridge & Wimpole Estate

Cambridge is just so typically British.  I just loved everything about it, except it is really bustling with people, so a bit crowded for such a small place. The atmosphere for me screamed college town, but over there they call them unis, and there are so many packed in to one city. I loved feeling like we were walking around a Hogwarts town and our afternoon tea was to die for.
Totally not my bike, but it was just so cute!

Feeling like we are at Hogwarts!

A stroll on the banks

A unique experience we had while here was going to a very secluded river club in Cambridge. After an afternoon walking around this Hogwarts like city, afternoon tea at the cutest little place ever and searching for the perfect uni courtyard we are picked up on the backside of the colleges and taken down the road. You would never even know it was there as you drive by, but you just pull off the road to park and walk down an overrun path to a locked wooden gate. Once inside you wind through some shrubs and trees to find yourself on the riverbank. There are a few places to put chairs up and we sit down to a picnic. It is quiet, peaceful and feels like you are in your own world. Naked men are jumping in the river beside boats as they float around lead by men like gondolas in Venice. What an experience this was!
After enjoying charming Cambridge the next day headed to Wimpole Estate. Such a lovely place to tour for the afternoon, even in the dreary weather. We walked around the house, the grounds and even had tea at the shop. It's no Pemberly, but it will do.

Tune in for more about our time as we travel North!

Fall Fun in the Park

This weekend the trio hopped back on their Remember the Removal bikes and took a ride in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This is a beautiful time of year to visit the park and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The weather has been warm in the afternoon so we decided to take a ride while the weather was so nice. The sun was shining bright, the leaves are gold, orange, red and since it is prime leaf looking season cars everywhere! Besides the heavy traffic we enjoyed our ride. The elk were out enjoying the sun and a late lunch. The leaves falling as we rode to Smokemont Campground made the ride a fall dream. The colors were so vibrant and crunching under the wheels. I loved having a moment to just enjoy the outdoors even if I'm paying for it today. The soreness has set in because I haven't been on my bike in months, but it was so worth it! Since we are all busy with work and travel we have to find ways to stay healthy. Biking is a good way for us to do that and I loved spending th...

Scottish Highlands and the Hairy Coo!

Traveling North outside of the city is quite an adventure. You have two bridges to choose from, one old sturdy bridge or a newer bridge with wider space, both are architectural beauties! We traveled by coach on a tour through Viator. It was the most convenient option for traveling through the Highlands and getting on the Jacobite aka, the "Harry Potter Train." This was an overnight tour from Edinburgh to Fort William with several stops along the way. We heard so many stories along the way about Mary Queen of the Scots, the Loch Ness and Nessie, Jacobites, wars, Glen Coe and whiskey. Coming from the mountains of WNC we found a lot in common with the Highlanders, very similar stories of little people, whiskey/moonshine, and folk music. Made us feel like we were riding around home! I really enjoyed our tour guide and the tour overall, I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone wanting an easy navigation through the Highlands. There is just so much I can say about how amaz...
