In Jamaica You Don't Say Goodbye

You say "See you later, mon."  We really enjoyed our time in Jamaica. Everyone was friendly, the resort was accommodating and our weather was enjoyable. I am already trying to plan a trip to go back. I am excited to see more of the island and relax in the Jamaican sun.  Of course no beach trip would be complete without a stop by Margaritaville. So we decided to eat at the one at Montego Bay before departing this beautiful island. If you are considering going to Jamaica, I would recommend looking into any of the Jewel properties (there are several). We enjoyed our time with them and they provide a shuttle to and from the hotel/airport. Next door to us was the RIU Ocho Rios, which is a large property and crowded. Our resort was perfect for relaxing, being away from the crowd, not having to fight for chairs by the pool and being able to sit by the bar without loud rowdy people. So I hope you consider looking in to it or any other place in Jamaica!

Luminous Lagoon

The Jewel Dunns River has a great selection of off property excursions. We decided to check out the options one morning at their help desk. We looked over the various excursions and picked the Luminous Lagoon. This excursion takes place at the Glistening Waters Marina, which is about 45 minutes from the resort.  Once at Glistening Waters you are welcomed with a rum punch and you sit and wait for it to get dark. Then boats come up to the dock and you load up to take a 35 minute tour of the marina. Once you get so far out you can start to see the water turn a different color. There are microorganisms that live in the water where the salt and fresh water mix. Once disturbed the glow a bright blue. This was such an amazing experience. We rode around with Jerry, who was the original tour guide since this started, and he told us the history of this marina.   Once you are so far out they let you jump off the side of the boat and swim. It was absolutely amazing being in the...

Jamaica, No Problem

For Kelsey's mother's birthday they traveled to Ocho Rios, Jamaica for a little relaxation in the sun. Welcomed to Jamaica by Margaritaville Ready to relax! We spent four days in Jamaica at the Jewel Dunns River Resort and Spa. This adult only all-inclusive resort is a Curio by Hilton property situated on the beach of Mammee Bay. View form the water of the Jewel Dunns River View from the cafe The rooms are either beach or garden view. We stayed in a section of the resort off to the side in the garden. We looked straight out our window to palm trees, flowers, cats and peacocks. A glimpse of our room Looking form the balcony Part of the Garden area Our peacock that sat outside the room The property took it upon themselves to spay and neuter cats that end up on site. The cats live on the property and are all very friendly. Some of the cats that live on the property, all of them are friendly We enjoyed taking the time to love...

Simply Savannah: Day 3

Day 3 in Savannah started off right with breakfast at J. Christopher's. A great little diner style eatery near the beautiful Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Parking can be difficult in this area sometimes but there is street parking on all sides of the block. Biscuits and gravy, cheese eggs and cheese grits From breakfast is was back to Tybee for another day of lounging on the beach. Today Yona and I decided we were going to bring our champagne to drink. So we filled up the Yeti with ice and stuffed our bottles of Veuve Cliqout and Moet in and set out for the day. Once our umbrellas were up we took a seat and just enjoyed the day. Of course we had to take a few pictures of us being extra for the day. Our day on Tybee is not complete until we eat at The Crab Shack. Our final time eating here for the weekend. In front of the alligator pool No trip to Savannah is complete for us until we eat at the Olde Pink House. We decided on our first trip ...

Simply Savannah: Day 2

Saturdays we get up and head out to Tybee Island for a relaxing day at the beach. We love getting out here fairly early in the morning so we can park on one of the side streets as soon as you turn the corner on Tybee. We normally get set up our umbrellas, get our chairs out and hit the water when it gets hot. This year we got a Yeti bag cooler and it was a great investment. It is small enough to pack in the car, sturdy and kept our drink cold. Most days we still had ice from the day before so it is true to it's name. Joey enjoying the little shade we have Kelsey enjoying the sun and seashell cup from Urban Outfitters After a day in the sun we pack up shortly after lunch and head to the best little seafood place in Georgia, The Crab Shack. Amazing, fresh and oh so yummy seafood platters to share await you at this gem. This year we all shared the platter for 3 and it did not disappoint, but definitely come hungry because the mountain of seafood will surely take you a whi...
