Favorite Food Spots in Quebec City

It is no surprise that we love to eat. So every time we travel we like to try as many new and interesting places as possible. Here is a list of some of our favorite food places in Quebec City.

3 Brasseurs: 3 Brewers provided us with a good selection of local beer and quick fairly healthy bar food. I loved that they made specialty drinks out of beer, like sangria and mimosas, but with beer. It was a neat twist on drink that I already love!

L'Inox Brewery: Joey's favorite part of this bar was the jukebox. He keep us entertained as we tried the variety of beers here. They change their selections seasonally to keep things fresh.

L'Escale Bistro: located off the hill from the Fairmont in Petit Champlain district is a cute little bistro on the steps with a great selection of crepes and coffee. It was nice to have a seat in a place not overly crowded. The food was great and we enjoyed having french cuisine.

1608 Wine and Cheese Bar: our favorite place to sit and have a drink. We had our own table we went to everyday and just enjoyed the views from the Fairmont overlooking the river. Our second day in Quebec we were snowed in so we just sat in front of the window and watched the snow fall for hours. Joey would highly recommend the hotels amber beer. Kelsey and Yona would recommend the sparkling cider. A great way to sit and enjoy the sites of Quebec!
Le Continental: traditional French cuisine made table side. I was giddy about trying this place out. I have always wanted to have table service like this and it was such a wonderful experience. Fantastic wait staff/cooks to prepare everything for you as you ordered. We ordered a Caesar salad, escargot, steak and liquid desserts. We enjoyed hours of entertainment watching our food be prepared.

Cochon DinguePoutine is just one of those things you have to try, but breakfast poutine is just one of those extras that happen to be delicious and perfect for a hearty breakfast. Definitely not healthy, but fantastic to get your morning started if it is super cold and you plan on walking a lot.

La Buche: a short walk from our hotel was a fun little place that had live music even in the morning. We enjoyed breakfast here that had large portions and a good selection of local food. Fresh ingredients and local musicians made for an enjoyable morning.
La Panache: our hands down favorite place had to be Panache. We had the most magical dining experience here, which was totally unexpected. We all decided on the tasting menu with wine pairing. Over the course of a few hours they brought to our table an arrangement of foods sourced locally and with the French in mind. We tried foods, that I would have never ordered for myself, but thoroughly enjoyed. I had the best food experience here outside of the Gardner's Cottage in Edinburgh. This was such a treat for us and to this day we still talk about the fried tree moss!

Gateway to the West: St. Louis

St. Louis is a beautiful place to visit in the fall. There are so many fun historical things to do in and around the city. My favorite place to visit is St. Charles, which is about 35 minutes Northwest of St. Louis. This is like a picture perfect fall town out of a movie. The cobblestone streets lined with cute local businesses and trees changing with the season are just charming. We walked along the street checking out the local shops and tried some of their local wine. I absolutely loved the warm pumpkin wine with whipped cream at Bella Vino. This was just a quintessential fall town and I absolutely fell in love with it! And of course no trip to St. Louis is complete with out a trip to the Gateway Arch!

Rocky Mountain High

Rocky Mountain National Park is beautiful! We drove through Boulder up to Estes Park to enter the park. I loved watching the scenery change from rolling hills to rocky mountain peaks. I truly enjoyed the scenic drive as we climbed in elevation up to around 12,000 feet on Trail Ridge Road. We drove for about an hour or so to Medicine Bow Curve. From there you could see snow still on the mountain peaks in the distance and the temperature dropped from 80 degrees in Boulder to about 39 degrees at our turnaround point. The mountain range was quite a sight and went as far as the eye could see. This was such a great drive, but I wish we had more time to get out and hike. I would have loved to hit the trails and see what we could accomplish on foot. Maybe next time, but until then I will be dreaming of these Rocky Mountains. So excited we made it to RMNP!
