Gateway to the West: St. Louis

St. Louis is a beautiful place to visit in the fall. There are so many fun historical things to do in and around the city. My favorite place to visit is St. Charles, which is about 35 minutes Northwest of St. Louis. This is like a picture perfect fall town out of a movie. The cobblestone streets lined with cute local businesses and trees changing with the season are just charming. We walked along the street checking out the local shops and tried some of their local wine. I absolutely loved the warm pumpkin wine with whipped cream at Bella Vino. This was just a quintessential fall town and I absolutely fell in love with it!

And of course no trip to St. Louis is complete with out a trip to the Gateway Arch!

Fall Fun in the Park

This weekend the trio hopped back on their Remember the Removal bikes and took a ride in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This is a beautiful time of year to visit the park and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The weather has been warm in the afternoon so we decided to take a ride while the weather was so nice. The sun was shining bright, the leaves are gold, orange, red and since it is prime leaf looking season cars everywhere! Besides the heavy traffic we enjoyed our ride. The elk were out enjoying the sun and a late lunch. The leaves falling as we rode to Smokemont Campground made the ride a fall dream. The colors were so vibrant and crunching under the wheels. I loved having a moment to just enjoy the outdoors even if I'm paying for it today. The soreness has set in because I haven't been on my bike in months, but it was so worth it! Since we are all busy with work and travel we have to find ways to stay healthy. Biking is a good way for us to do that and I loved spending th...

Scottish Highlands and the Hairy Coo!

Traveling North outside of the city is quite an adventure. You have two bridges to choose from, one old sturdy bridge or a newer bridge with wider space, both are architectural beauties! We traveled by coach on a tour through Viator. It was the most convenient option for traveling through the Highlands and getting on the Jacobite aka, the "Harry Potter Train." This was an overnight tour from Edinburgh to Fort William with several stops along the way. We heard so many stories along the way about Mary Queen of the Scots, the Loch Ness and Nessie, Jacobites, wars, Glen Coe and whiskey. Coming from the mountains of WNC we found a lot in common with the Highlanders, very similar stories of little people, whiskey/moonshine, and folk music. Made us feel like we were riding around home! I really enjoyed our tour guide and the tour overall, I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone wanting an easy navigation through the Highlands. There is just so much I can say about how amaz...
